I like to experiment with all the options, but for groups new to DCC, I like to set a “minimum total ability bonus per sheet of -3 or -4, so there are fewer sheets that are really bad. I also like the 1d2+2 hit points, since it enables most characters to take at least 2 hits. The “ray of light” option for lucky sign is also fun. For really new groups, or younger groups, I sometimes do the 4d6 ability generation method.
